12 MORE STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

 

On Thursday, August 15, 2013, the NCCU once again reaffirmed it is ‘one big family’, that it is about ‘People Helping People’ and all it does is ‘Not for profit, not for charity  - but for service’

The occasion was the Credit Union’s 3rd annual scholarship presentation.  Twelve (12) scholarships were awarded to children of NCCU members to attend secondary school over a five (5) year period from September 2013 to July 2018.  Receiving scholarships were

The secondary school scholarship includes $700 for text books and school supplies, uniform allowance of $300 and the  payment of school fees, a monthly commuting allowance of  $50 to $100 and  Caribbean  Examination Council fees.

During the ceremony NCCU’s  President “encouraged students to strive for success” and to make the right choices.  Chief Executive Office, Alymer Irish reminded the students that,   “in a time when the distractions are endless and resources are limited, you must there make best use of the opportunities afforded to you”. 

The presentation of the twelve (12) scholarships brought the total number of NCCU Scholars to 55, including three at the Dominica State College. 

For the 2012-203 academic year, NCCU spent $74,082 on the scholarship program.
