NCCU Launches Primary Schools Reading Project

Five months after initiating a Primary Schools Literacy Project at the Goodwill and Roseau Primary Schools, NCCU formally launched the Project on June 16, 2011.  At the impressive ceremony students, who were formerly struggling readers, had the opportunity to showcase their newly learnt reading skills.

Nine schools in Roseau and environs have been targeted for the Project with plans to expand to the north.

Miriam Lewis, Principal of the Goodwill Primary School, told the audience that the students' attitude towards their literacy has improved.  She enthusiastically praised and thanked  NCCU for the intervention.

NCCU CEO, Aylmer Irish congratulated the teachers and asked them to continue the hard work. In commending the students he told them " You have made yourself proud and we are also proud of you."

The Ceremony was held at the Goodwill Primary School  and was attended by NCCU officials, Ministry of Education officials, teachers and students
