Ms. NCCU Jade Romain wishes to express immense thanks to all those who supported her organized Health Walk for Mental Illness on Wednesday February 1st 2017. The Walk was organized by Ms. Romain to stimulate awareness and to fight the stigma associated with mental illness. Close to 50 persons joined Ms. Romain on the walk, the youngest being 3 years old.
In Ms Romain's words " Special thanks to the sponsors of the Walk, the National Co-operative Credit Union Ltd and Zaimis Olmos Visual Arts for without them the Walk would not have materialized. I must also register my sincerest gratitude to the Dominica Dementia Foundation , the staff of the NCCU Ltd and all other participants who took these bold steps yesterday and walked with me to raise awareness about the need to safeguard our mental health and protect the vulnerable in our society who suffer with mental illness. Thanks to the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force for approving the Walk and the general public who may have been slightly inconvenienced as a result of the Walk but still uttered kind words of support to me. Last but by no means least, I am most grateful to the media who took time out of their busy schedules to attend and cover the event."
