13 Awarded Scholarships in 2016

Thirteen students, who will step into secondary schools across the island in September, have received full 5-year scholarships from the NCCU. The students were presented with the awards at a scholarship presentation held at the credit union's head office in Roseau on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. The scholarships cover school fees, books, uniforms, examination fees and transportation. 

The proud receipients are all children of members from the communities served by the six branches of the NCCU.They are:

Two new annual scholarships in the the names of credit union soldier and leader, Kenneth Anthony Richards,  and credit union pioneer, Johnson Joseph George Thomas, were introduced by NCCU in 2016.

 NCCU President Josephine Dublin informed the ceremony that the  "presentation of these 13 scholarships this morning brings our total scholarships  to 59; 57  students attending secondary school and two students attending the Dominica State College". She further stated that "for the 2015-2016 academic year, expenses for the NCCU Ltd Scholarship programme totaled in excess of $66,000. We are now in our sixth year of existence. Over the last five years, the NCCU Ltd has spent over  $400,000 under our annual scholarship programme."   

 We congratulate our 2016 scholars, warmly welcome them to the NCCU "one big family" and wish them success.

Theme: Play, Learn & Grow Together 

Credit Unions are in Business to enhance & fulfill the lives of its members. They do this by providing a full range of financial products and services to its members. To achieve this, the movement utilizes various mediums and carefully selected platforms to effectively communicate its messages to members. Each year, one of the platforms being utilized is the Family Fund day event.

This year, Five Credit Unions namely, National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU), Central Cooperative Credit Union (CCCU), West Coast Cooperative Credit Union (WCCCU), South Eastern Cooperative Credit Union (SECCU) and Grandbay Cooperative Credit Union (GBCCU), are collaborating under one theme in one location to host the Family Fun Day.

Credit Unions Family Fun Day event will take place on August 28th 2016 at the scenic Botanic Gardens in Roseau from 12:00 noon to 9pm. This year, some of the highlights will include Financial Counseling, Enrollments in various products to include the Bereavement Benefit Plan, Family Indemnity Plan, the Member Retirement Account to name a few. Each individual Credit Union will show case the various products and services available to members at their individual booths, as well as provide incentives to members for visiting their booths.

Eighteen (18) game disciplines offering thirty six (36) opportunities to win points for your Credit Union and individual prizes for members. Credit Unions will be competing for the bragging rights as the winner of Games during the event with a Hugh Trophy to match. The friendly competition among Participating Credit Unions is expected to be exciting, very animated and indeed fun. If you have never witnessed the Tug of War, the “War of the Titans” is a segment you cannot miss between the two largest Credit Union members. Page 2 Credit Unions Family Fun Day 2016.

All Credit Union Members island wide are invited to join the Credit Union Family at the Botanic Gardens to “play, learn and grow together” which is the theme chosen for the celebration of the event. Credit Unions staff & volunteers will answer members’ questions and provide advice on how to achieve financial goals.

 The event is Free. Transportation will be provided to members of participating Credit Union to and from the event location.

Family Fun Day this year is being coordinated by the Corporate Enterprise Finance Facility Ltd – CorpEFF, a company designed specifically to offer specialized services to Credit Unions in Dominica and Cooperatives in the OECS.

New Date for Cadence Lypso Auditions

‪#‎Cadence‬ Lypso Auditions   New Date 

 

A new date has been set for auditions for the 2016 Cadence Lypso Show.  

Auditions will now take place on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 9 am at the NCCU Branch on Independence Street in Roseau.
