Paix Bouche OfficeTops Creole Decorating Competition
Monday, 12 November 2012

To showcase the creativity of members of staff, the NCCU Vieille Branch organised a Creole Decorating competition among all its offices at the end of October.

Judging took place on October 31 and the Paix Bouche office  copped the first place.  Penville earned  second place and Vieille CAse 2 and Thibaud tied in third place

The competition was of a high standard with each office beautifully decorated with madras and  local materials. Visitors stepped into a snapshot in time as each office displayed items used by Dominicans in the past.  Locally grown foods,  herbs and dishes were also on display.

Undoubtedly, the staff of the Vieille Case Branch  demonstrated their creativity.    Congratulations to all the offices on a job well done.   The competition was organised by the Branch Marketing Committee.

Webster "Web" Marie is Cadence King
Sunday, 21 October 2012

In the early hours of Sunday, October 21, 2012 ,  Webster "Web" Marie  was crowned as the first ever  NCCU Cadence Lypso King.

"Web" competed against 19 other finalists to win the coveted crown and a cash prize of $15,000. On the way to the throne, he impressed the judges with his performance of "Tutuni" a song written by leading Dominican song writer and performer, MIchelle Henderson.

In second place was Carlyn Xavier, and Janet Azzouz earned the third place. They won cash prizes of $5000 and $2500 respectively.

The show was held at the Newtown Savannah and was well-attended by Cadence Lypso lovers who danced and grooved to the infectious music, which comprised old school and new fusions of the Cadence Lypso beat.

The show was organised by the NCCU  as part of efforts to revitalise the unique and indigenous Cadence Lypso music created by Exile One back in the 1970's.
