NCCU Breaks Ground on New La Salette Branch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Roseau, Dominica – January 8th, 2026: The National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) observed a major milestone in its institutional growth with a groundbreaking ceremony held on Wednesday, January 7, for the construction of its new La Salette Branch at Pointe Michel.

The blessing of the project site and unveiling of the blueprint for the State-of-the-Art facility formed part of the ceremony.

President of NCCU’s Board, Mr. Clement Marcellin, said a clear understanding of NCCU’s role in national and community development has brought the plan to this stage.

“The decision to invest in a new La Salette Branch was guided by one central question: How do we best serve our members—today and for generations to come? The answer was clear. We must invest where our members live, work, and grow,” he added.

NCCU’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Curth Charles, indicated that the project signals NCCU’s confidence in the country’s future.

“At a time when many institutions are consolidating or scaling back, NCCU continues to build, expand, and invest. That is not accidental. It is the result of prudent management, strong governance, and the continued trust of our members,” Charles said, as he called on residents to take ownership of the facility once it is completed.

RoyC Real Estate & Construction Company, owned by Clement Royer, will move the project from concept to reality over the next 16 months.

The project’s expected start date is January 12th, 2026.

Designed to house a waiting area with lounge-style seating and ocean-view offices for staff, the building will also cater to differently-abled members. “This vibrant and aesthetically pleasing edifice will present not just a facelift to the community, but is sure to bring increased traffic and financial activity to Point Michel and the south, by extension,” said Projects Manager of NCCU, Mr. Hillarian Jules.

Architectural firm NewGround Canada and Credit Union Brand Engineering (CUBE), a Canadian-based company, developed the conceptual design.

Mrs. Maria Etienne-Pascal, Branch Manager of La Salette, described the proposed new building as NCCU’s continued commitment to provide excellent services for Pointe Michel and neighbouring communities.
