Roseau, Dominica – November 13, 2025: The National Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU) Ltd. marked its 15th anniversary with an awards ceremony held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the State House Conference Room.
The institution honoured 35 pioneers and leaders for their pivotal roles in the historic 2010 merger that formed the NCCU.
The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency President Sylvanie Burton and the first gentleman, as well as the Honourable Minister for Culture, Youth, Sports & Community Development Gretta Roberts.
NCCU’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Curth Charles, described the event as a fitting tribute to the visionaries who built the credit union.
“As we celebrate our 15th Anniversary, we also look ahead with renewed vision and determination. The years ahead will see NCCU strengthening its digital capabilities, enhancing the member experience, and continuing to uphold the values that define who we are—integrity, professionalism, accountability, good governance, and growth.” Charles added.
Formed on November 1, 2010, through the amalgamation of five local credit unions – La Salette, St. Paul, Vieille Case, Roseau and St. David’s – NCCU became the largest credit union in Dominica and the wider Eastern Caribbean. Its expansion to include the Castle Bruce and La Plaine branches further strengthened financial inclusion and extended affordable financial access to communities across Dominica. Today, NCCU remains a financially sound institution serving more than 54,000 members.
President of the Board of Directors, Mr. Clement Marcellin, emphasized that the organization’s continued growth must translate into tangible benefits for its members and communities.
“We must continue to embrace digital transformation, modernizing our operations to meet the needs of a new generation of members. We must continue to strengthen governance, ensuring that NCCU remains accountable, transparent, and sustainable,” he noted.
Since its rebranding in 2023, NCCU has operated under the slogan ‘Your Community Financial Partner’—a testament to its commitment to serving the entire community.
The anniversary, celebrated from October to November 2025 under the theme “15 Years Strong: Our Community, Our Spirit, Our Commitment,” featured a series of events culminating with the Awards Ceremony.
